It's haunting me even in my dreams.

Yesterday, I dreamt that I was in Masina, then I had to pee.

So Mr Ashraf looks at the clock and says, "I'll give you either 4 minutes or 5 minutes."

I agreed and rushed out of the room. As I ran out, he shouted, "4 minutes!"

And the "toilet" I went to was my Bukit Batok home kitchen. But I couldn't pee.

So Elaine comes out of the classroom and says, "Ah yah, go to the toilet and pee lah." I think the toilet was like, exclusive to rich people. Yes, you heard me. Rich people.

So I went to the toilet, but I still couldn't pee. And then it flashed through my mind that, I was 'Poor Qiu-Lyng', and Elaine was 'Rich Elaine', and only rich people could pee.

How sad/istic is that?

But the good thing about the dream, was that Timothy came into the toilet as well, and asked Elaine, "Did you pee on the wall?"

And she said yes, and he replied, "Pee on your own wall." And somehow, that was equivalent to liking me. Like, he wanted to keep the wall for me to pee on. Haha, what the hell right?

And Elaine says, "But I thought you liked _____?"

Timothy pauses for a moment, before saying, "I say again, pee on your own wall." Then he left to go back to class.

When Elaine comes back a little while later, Mr Ashraf asked why she took so long, and she said sneakily, "Because I found out SOMEONE likes to pee on their OWN wall."

I could even see the 'someone' and 'own' in capital letters.

I have no idea what the dream was about man.

But there you have it: rich people rule the world.

But, that's not the point. What I just wanted to say is, even though my past banners have been gold and glittery and celebratory looking, this banner is coolass. Just felt like it. The "just felt like it" is my main point.

Leather armband

I'm going crazy not knowing the exact name for it.

This infatuation may have started with Kim Bum, but I only realised I like it when guys wear it because of another picture.

Birthdays call for cupcakes!

Well, it seems like everybody's getting ready for the nation's birthday!

Some do it the normal way by hanging flags, some paint their faces. Some book hotel rooms with a bird's eye view of the parade months before the actual thing. Some go through all means to just get a pair of tickets to the show.

But Nat Jie took the more unique approach, and baked National Day themed cupcakes!

Happy 44th birthday!

She even made the inside red and white! How coolass is that!?

It's chocolate flavoured still, no worries. There's just red colouring now. The icing was sweet but what won me over was the softness and springiness of the cupcake, plus the absence of fruits, unlike the previous time *thumbs up*

From Singapore to London in a snap

I dreamt I was in London!

London!

With the cobblestone streets, and the quaint shophouses!

Anyway, it was like an air-conditioned street market. But the scene started in a Tiong Bahru-looking HDB (which was quite anti-climatic), and we -- meaning the poly clique -- were getting ready to go out.

Out comes my bro-in-law and sister from the lift! They came to visit me lah. B kor got me in a headlock before we all went down to the street market.

We were walking along the street, when we passed by a Subway, and I said, "Eh, have to eat Subway right, B kor, you said?" Because he said before that if you go overseas, you had to try the Subway (if you saw one), because they were different or something like that.

That's what I said, but in the dream, it was actually my sister who said that. In real life though, it was my cousin. So you can see I kinda just forget who says what.

Anyway, then we continued along, and I glanced at the menu board of the Subway.

Half a wrap cost about £13, while the full wrap (half meaning 6", full meaning foot-long, I think) cost £15.35. That comes up to S$30.69 and S$36.24 lah, please!

But the pictures looked daaaaamn good. The egg was bright yellow, the veggies were bright green and it just looked blooooooooody good.

But, alas, it was too expensive -- and a dream. So I woke up.

So I went to Sentosa with Lai Ying, Fazli and Jasmine last Friday, and guess what I saw!

Michelle and I went to Ikea, then Anchor Point after the sample-distribution briefing. And we had Xin Wang! For desserts, because we ate at Ikea before that.

I finally got to try the french toast I'd been craving for.

And Michelle ordered ginger soup with glutinous rice balls, a.k.a. 湯圓.

She also ordered pineapple bun (like, just 菠蘿包 man)

And I drank my 鸳鸯! Hot this time, as Michelle suggested.

Can't wait to go again!

Hello Clara, I'm writing this post to you because I don't know your blog address D:

It's 1am in the morning, and I'm watching Korean F4. 我真的是为 Jihoo (the Hua Ze Lei) 前辈心痛. It's like, he so 伟大 lor, giving up the girl, and not chasing her, but everytime she needs help and is sad, he's there for her. Then he 心痛 for his own problems also never say anything. Helps (or doesn't help) that he's 帅 too!

I think it's getting quite tiring for me to watch Jandi (the Sanchai) keep hurting when she looks at Junpyo (the Dao Ming Si), but doesn't just go to Jihoo. Now I think the romance between Jandi and Junpyo so overrated.

Oh, and as a digression, now I like the Ga Eul (the Xiao You) and Yijung (the Ximen) romance, but I'm just watching this part, where I'm thinking Yijung and Woobin (the Meizuo) look very gay together.

I don't like my new house.

It takes an hour to come back when it only took half an hour for my old home.

I don't have my old house number anymore, which was super easy to remember. Now it's some random mix of numbers, which is damn hard to remember.

I have to take a lift up to the eighth floor, walk past a damn long corridor through a jungle of plants grown by my new environment-loving neighbours, then walk up 16 steps before walking through another forest of plants before reaching my house.

One thing about Jurong West people is that they seem to be having a secret affair with the environment. They grow plants, but can't outright show their affection by not littering the place.

The new block is so run-down.

Because there's no more parking space under our block, we have to buy the parking lot opposite the street, which is freaking far away.

The new block is so dark and small, unlike my old house with a huge void deck.

And I saw my old house without anything in it, and it was bloody huge. My new house is like... the rooms are two-third the size of the old rooms, and the hall is about half the size. And because it was empty, it was just so, so depressing. I went around hugging the walls, and cried a little :((((((

Now there's no platform for my fridge, so it's easier for me to reach, which makes it just feel inadequate for my tastes.

I really don't like my new house. I think I'm just picking on things now.

And it's really depressing, because there was my auntie, and the fact that I hate year 3 with all the modules and workload, and now I don't think I can even find comfort at home.

I think the only comfort I can find right now is on Tuesday when I meet Michelle, Joel, Clara, YC, Jie Hui, Hui Mian and Xiangwei, and on Friday when I can see Crarah and YC, and the others for lunch.

It's not even comforting for YC to be in the same class because I just hate the classes.

Shit fuck, I'm becoming an emo blogger. I hate year 3, I believe that's the main cause for my emo-ness.

Shet. I'll change my blogskin to a happy one as a form of calming myself down.

Today I took a taxi from BBDC to Jurong Point. I was actually planning to take a bus at first, so I was already on the other side of BBDC.

There were no taxis on my side of the road, so fine, I started flagging one from the other side. I managed to flag one, but because the traffic was kinda heavy, the taxi driver took about a minute to make a U-turn over to my side.

When I got in, I said, "Uncle, 謝謝, Jurong Point."

And he went, "Jurong Point 那邊不是可已 lor..." and started gesturing like, 'Siao one.'

So at first I said, "Sorry sorry." Then realised he was fucking rude lah. 講到這樣還 gesture 到這樣.

Then I continued, "我不知道嘛."

Shit, should have said, 'You think if I had known I take taxi for what.'

Ch.

I think he realised he pissed me off, because when I got off the taxi he said 謝謝 quite nicely. But I just said one 謝 then got off. Tamade.

Two days ago, Monday 16 February 2009, a bush fire started in the forest occupying the land opposite my house.

I couldn't really figure out why (my sister was mumbling by the side that it could be arson), until my dad told me it was because the weather was so hot the trees spontaneously combusted.

Ahem, they burst into flames just like that.

When I came home, there was a looong line of cars along the road. There were like, 3 fire engines, a huge civil defence bus and around 3 police cars. And then there were 1,001 cars filling the spaces between those civil defence vehicles.

I thought they were just kaypoh-kias, but my mama said they could just be reporters. We wanted to drop Xiang off at the bus stop there, but it was blocked, so we had to drop her off at the next bus stop instead.

The next day, the fire happened again. When my sister dragged me out to check it out (ahemkaypohahem), we saw the orange spots which were the hats of the firemen, on the hill, around 200 feet high. Like, whoa whoa whoa.

So scary sia. I mean, this is bad. It's probably because of global warming, that's why our trees are bursting into flames. On their own.

Yesterday's flames were worse I think, because instead of going straight, the cars all had to be diverted to the right. So interesting.

But still scary and worrying, mind you.

他很會做人 (He really knows how to be a person).

他很蠻講義氣 (He really talks friend-gas, i.e. PR-ish).

也很主動 (Also takes a lot of initiative, although I can't really say for what).

他就是一個蠻很好的一個朋友。很容易跟他溝通 (He's a rather good friend, and easy to communicate with too [even my other friends say so]).

Joel ~~forced~~ requested me to write a blog post about him.

I wrote him a long, chim SMS, asking him to bring his Korean workbook for me, in exchange for his Andersoon Cooper book.

But did he bring it? Nooooooo.

This here's the message I sent to him:

"Hello chong ah el! Can you aid me in my endeavour to becoming a linguistics major by lending me your sacred korean workbook tomorrow? This huge boost of encouragement will not be for nought as you will be rewarded with something that i know resides deep in your currently bleeding heart ahemandersooncooperbookahem. Please! :D"

It took me 3 messages, but did he bring it? Noooooooo.

Ah well, it's not all bad, because he's actually becoming more intellectual with his Anderson Cooper book (which I brought for him in return for a Korean workbook -- which he didn't bring in the end).

He wanted me to say something good about him, but yes well... 'korean', 'korean', 'korean' is floating around my mind and I can't think of anything else.

Fish that are not for eating

Michelle, Jie Hui and I were at Jurong Point, and walked past the restaurant that was displaying their fish.

They were sick and actually rotting, and they just looked so poor thing. We don't know if it's due to sickness or because they fought each other.

This was the worse of the lot. It had to be separated from the rest and put into another tank.

I think that's its guts we're seeing lor.

This is another fish. It's either bacteria or too much eating of the other fish that made its mouth like that.

This fish is gonna die I guess; maybe it wouldn't even be there anymore when I go back. (Tsk, sound so morbid)

It's probably infection, because almost all of the fishes' mouths looked like this.

And I just took this photo because JH said the prawn on the far left looked like it was being 排斥, haha.

I met some friends at Jurong Point about a week back, and the new Jurong Point wasn't open yet, but that's besides the point.

The point iiiisss...

I went to the toilet and look what I discovered!

Daaaamn shiny toilet roll holders! (This picture was strategically taken might I add, haha. Okay, no, whatever.)

And then we had ice-cream at the new Japanese cafe.

I would upload Jasmine's oreo ice-cream, but blogger takes quite a while to place the pictures. It was quite nice anyhow.

It's a blow-upper! And it becomes a sword! Hahahahahaha. This is the second blow-upper I've bought from Daiso *smacks forehead*. Like, for whaaat? Let me tell you what, let me tell you now. It's for happiness *slaps self for cheesiness*.

Birthdays aren't supposed to be best friends with sorrow

My family brought me to Jack's Place at West Coast Recreation Center for a birthday lunch. It was my dad's present to me because he paid for the expensive lunch.

And I got loads of ang pows and a couple of presents.

A stamp from my second sis, and a necklace from my cousin.

Ang pows from my various aunts and uncles. I got three from my eldest sis because the first two were 'vouchers' that she drew which entitled me to babysitting her daughter and staying overnight at her house (like I don't already do that).

Present from my mom because she paid for me (most practical present, of course ;D).

The long candles I once said I wanted, and Michelle remembered and bought. These are used, mind you. I stupidly lost the new ones *slaps self*

Joel, Michelle, Clara, Ching and Shermaine (and Eunice, Hui Ming, Sam and Mr Ho) celebrating with a cake for me after PR class. Super sweet can; I didn't even notice the cake haha.

I saw some interesting things regarding my birthday too.

The sandwich Hui Mian bought on the 2nd December. The expiry date was my birthday (which is quite sad, and which says something about the lifespan of the sandwich).

So after the driving registration, my sister, father and I were left alone for dinner, and were sourcing for a place to look. And in some remote part of Singapore...

And I figured I should post this because she blocked my view.

On a sad note, I don't know why I'm feeling this way, but it feels like my birthday is just like any other day, and I'm angry at myself for feeling this way. And I guess that anger just converts to angst.

I think it was triggered when my parents were supposed to pick me up, and 10 minutes after they were supposed to pick me, I called them but they were still at home. And it was hot and humid and I just plain hated feeling the way I felt. The thing was, when I failed to notice them and they were honked at, I was scolded.

Like, firstly I walk all the way to the bus stop, that's fine and totally understandable. Then you make me wait half an hour in the heat, and finally you scold me.

I was so upset I started crying in the car. And what made me cry even more was the fact that I was crying on my bloody birthday. (Not to mention the bloody candles I dropped *smacks myself even harder*)

I used to see 3-Dec or 3/12 and feel really happy, but now I look at it and I feel like crying.

And the main thought that's bouncing around in my head is: "Why the f**** are you even feeling this way!?"

And I have no answer to that.

Laptop bag woes

My laptop bag rubber is hanging by its last thread from its body.

I asked my brother to suture it back for me once, but because I kept using it as per normal, the stitching came out.

It's fine, but I was looking for a situation to relate it to, and I found a rather sad one.

So my laptop goes for surgery, but because its like the sole breadwinner of the family, it has to continue its professional wrestling career (or something just as strenuous and exhausting).

Then I was thinking, 'It should have rested for a longer period.'

But then I realised, its injury is never going to heal, and if it continues to do what it does, its going to end its career.

Happy Birthday to me.

But it's quite sad to see, on TV, "Catch XXX show on 6 Dec!" (sounds quite wrong) because it just means my brithday's going to come really soon, but going to pass even quicker. Daaamn.

My dad made me very happy by saying, "Now I have to put up the triangle [for the car] again
I can go bars
Just to check out the gay ones; so exciting!

Not that I didn't watch them when I was 16 or 17, but it's legal now

And don't you just hate how you want so many things, but when someone asks you what you want for your birthday, you can't, for the life of you, give one single answer?

Yeah well, I have a few things I want, but they're not needed right now -- all wants -- so alright!

The bus trip home

Coming home from Dhoby Ghaut was a little weird yesterday.

Firstly, this guy who sat next to me kept nodding off, and he kept leaning into me.

So I scooted so far to the right I had to scoot front. Then it got tiring so I just leant back. And the guy's (bony) shoulder pressed into my shoulder even more.

But anyway, when I was almost home, the bus suddenly stalled. And it was kinda funny so I laughed a little.

It took the bus drivers 3 tries to finally get it moving again. Heng never really break down.

The dreams are back

So we were in Malaysia again, and we were eating at some foodcourt.

We were sitting in fours, and when I looked to my right, I saw this malay girl serving food to another table.

I stared at her for a moment, then said, "Eh, you know, that's my dad. Like, the actual person when he was young."

Because she looked exactly the same as my teenage dad (I would scan in the picture, but I'm too lazy).

So I got Jie Hui (now I remember it's her) to take a picture of me with 'my dad'. And I kept making sure she took the picture only when the girl was facing the camera fully.

I didn't think it was very freaky, but a lot of people said it's weird (and a little sad? My own thoughts) that I dreamt of my dad as a girl.

Ah well, he was good in five stones.

I watch as the entire stadium thrummed with energy.

There are so many people, they look like ants. One entire stadium of people, just for me.

As I stand there, they chant my name, Loh Qiu-Lyng, Loh Qiu-Lyng.

Their chanting gets louder and louder, and soon, the very sound is beating against my eardrums.

I don't stop the tears from slipping down my cheeks.

I earned this. Through my hard work and determination, I earned all of this.

This, where I can hold a concert and have my tickets sell out in a matter of minutes.

This, where I can sing and dance to a crowd full of people who want to watch me sing and dance.

This, where I can just stand and listen, and watch, and just absorb my hard work.

Right in the front row, I se my family.

My parents smiling proudly up at me. My brother, who usually doesn't care, smiling and giving me his full attention. My sister and brother-in-law, and niece, sitting down and moving to the chanting. My second sister, jumping crazily up and down.

And I know, the proud look on their faces is because I am standing up here on this stage.

I feel the pride swell in me, and remember the days I wanted to give up because it got too tough.

Someone throws a piece of cloth up at me and it lands at my feet.

There's something wrapped in it.

I bend down to pick it up and unfold it.

I carefully hold the bear in my arms, admiring it for a little while before putting it under my arm.

On the piece of black cloth, it reads simply: "I love you, Qiu-Lyng!"

I grin and the tears flow somemore.

And suddenly, everybody is throwing something to me. Some are roses, some are cloth like the first one, some big, some small.

I laugh, and wiping away my tears, shout a heartfelt thank you to everybody.

I pick up every single item on the ground, and those that fell short of the stage and landed on the floor, I ask the security guards to pick them up for me.

I place them neatly on the steps on the stage before continuing my concert.

Because I worked for this. I worked for this for them, the fans.

And now I've done it.

YC, Xiang and I went to Bugis Macdonald's for studying, and I ate McGriddles finally!

It was sweet and salty, and quite nice. But halfway through, I just split up the burger and the bread and ate them separately; bread was too soft.

And when we left for my house, we took this 174 bus.

Like, oh my god can! This is the first time I've ever seen it in all my 174-sitting life! It was like a space pod just for you and your friends!

I took more pictures, but who knew stupid Motorola phones need you to specifically save your pictures before taking another one?

This was taken after exams, really, at my house kopitiam.

I read the first few words and thought, "They're going to say: '繁忙時間請自助.'"

But they actually just asked you to give your table number!

Foodcourts totally cannot beat kopitiams, please, with their 'Self-Service thank you!'s.

I managed to reach my phone in one of my turns, and called a random person on my list. The teacher caught me before I could speak.

But I knew my phone got through to whoever, so I tried to incorporate information into my shouting at the teacher.

So it kinda went like this:

"Why are you trying to rape us? Why did you bring us to this abandoned warehouse at XXX, Street XX, XXX Road!?"

It was all really stupid. Luckily Michelle's message woke me up before any more of my brain cells died.

Jerard is my younger-brother friend, and I love him dearly. I love him so much, I'd do anything for him even after scolding him.

But Jerard is this sex-crazy kid.

We were sitting at the back of a bus, with people whom we knew sitting around us. Suddenly, Jerard asked two girls to strip for him, and I guess we were all scared of him, so they did it.

Before that, he'd done horrible horrible things too. Not to a person, but I remembered blowing up at him twice before. I'd never been so angry in my entire life. But as I said before, I'd do anything for him.

So I let Jerard have his way with the girls. The stripping hadn't gone far when I realised the people in the bus were finally noticing what was happening.

So I pushed him out an open window of the bus and jumped out after him.

He landed heavily on his back, and I landed next to him on my knees.

I knelt over him and grabbed his hoodie collar, slamming him repeatedly into the sandy ground.

"Do you think 'Jerard' is a difficult name to spell? Do you? Let me tell you, Jerard, it's not!"

Because if someone was going to report him to the police, they were going to have to guess his name.

His face was scrunched up from the impact of my slams, and he forced out, "They just need to not know how to spell Jermaine."

Jermaine is Jerard's sister, and I was wondering what the hell he was talking about, when it hit me.

Jerard was already prepared to go to jail; he just didn't want anybody to create trouble for his sister.

So effing thoughtful.

I pulled him up and hugged him tight, before standing up and starting to run with him in my arms.

Just then, his phone in his hoodie pocket started ringing, and with a sense of dread, I checked the Caller ID.

It was, fortunately, one of our friends, and I quickly answered the call, explaining that we couldn't talk now, before putting the phone down.

It was back in the pocket when it rang again.

I thought the music was really familiar, and I realised it was the same Korean song that was my phone's ringtone.

So I woke up and answered my sister's call.

All this in 2 hours, tsktsk.

I think the Olympics is very biased towards China.

I was watching Gymnastics: Artisitc, and I admit the Chinese gymnast was good, but the others were just as good or better than her. But for both rounds, she got damn high scores, and she won in the end.

I don't think it was justified.

Same goes for Men's Diving.

I think if a Chinese, or a few of them, takes part in an event, confirm one of them will get a medal.

Anyway! The replay of Gymnastics: Rhythmic is playing on my TV, and the girl is really really good.

Her previous apparatus was done damn well, but she got only a low 17, and everyone could tell it wasn't good enough for her.

So she appealed and got a slightly higher score.

But the first girl who performs, same as the Chinese gymnasts, is not the best, but she gets high 18s all the time.

It's really sad for some of the gymnasts, because they perform so well, but slip up and drop the apparatus. Pek chek man.

P.S. Their costumes are nice until cannot nice anymore lor, please. And Gymnastics: Rhythmic ribbons is really the best event to watch (besides Archery, but that's just me); it's so so so pretty!

There goes the Chinese phrase:
男子漢大丈夫
It means for a guy to... not be so petty I think.

And coincidentally, there's a phrase in Japanese:
大丈夫ですか?
It means "Are you okay?"

So I'm thinking, Japanese got the 大丈夫ですか? from 男子漢大丈夫, which asks if someone is feeling all right, because 男子漢大丈夫 simply asks for a guy to not be angry.

I dried my hands on my apron as I walked out of the kitchen.

Dinner was good, but the washing up was hell.

I looked to the left; Yunho, Changmin and Junsu were lounging on the couch watching TV, and I briefly wondered where Jaejoong and Yoochun were.

I looked right and paused.

Through the crack in the master bedroom door, Jaejoong was pulling up his pants after a shit. I granted him privacy as I looked away, but cursed that his white shirt was a bit too long at the back.

I cleared the table as they continued watching TV, and by the time I was done, all five of them were sitting there on the couch already.

When it was time to leave, Changmin and Yoochun had miraculously morphed into my parents (which was quite anti-climatic).
